Bak Kut Teh Noodle Delight

Ingredients

  • 1 kg pork ribs
  • 500g fresh egg noodles
  • 5-6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2-3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp white pepper
  • 2-3 star anise
  • 5-6 dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 2-3 tbsp cooking oil
  • 6-8 cups water
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Blanch the pork ribs in boiling water for 5 minutes, then rinse under cold water and set aside.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the blanched pork ribs, shiitake mushrooms, star anise, soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and white pepper to the pot. Stir well to coat the ribs with the seasonings.
  4. Pour in the water and bring the broth to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours until the pork ribs are tender.
  5. Cook the fresh egg noodles according to the package instructions, then divide them into serving bowls.
  6. Once the pork ribs are tender, season the broth with salt to taste. Ladle the pork ribs and broth over the noodles in each bowl.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy!
