Baked Macaroni Burger (imqarrun Il-forn Burger)
This Baked Macaroni Burger, also known as Imqarrun il-Forn Burger, is a delicious and hearty dish from Maltese cuisine. It combines the flavors of a classic burger with the comforting goodness of baked macaroni, creating a unique and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 250g macaroni
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup grated cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Combine the cooked macaroni with the meat sauce and half of the grated cheese.
- Divide the macaroni mixture into 4 portions and shape each portion into a patty.
- Place the macaroni patties on a baking sheet and sprinkle the remaining grated cheese on top of each patty.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Toast the burger buns in the oven for a few minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a macaroni patty between each burger bun.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
