Baklava Cheesecake Bars
Baklava Cheesecake Bars are a delightful fusion of two beloved desserts - baklava and cheesecake. This recipe combines the rich, nutty flavors of baklava with the creamy, decadent texture of cheesecake, all in a convenient bar form.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup chopped pistachios
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package (16 ounces) phyllo dough, thawed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine the walnuts, pistachios, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Layer 10 sheets of phyllo dough in the prepared baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter before adding the next.
- Sprinkle a generous layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
- Repeat the layering process with 5 sheets of phyllo dough and the nut mixture until all the nut mixture is used, ending with a final layer of 10 sheets of phyllo dough on top.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the baklava into 12 equal bars. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the baklava is baking, prepare the cheesecake layer. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, honey, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Then, spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the top.
- Return the baklava to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheesecake layer is set.
- Allow the baklava cheesecake bars to cool completely in the baking dish before cutting and serving.
