Baklava Cheesecake Bars

Baklava Cheesecake Bars are a delightful fusion of two beloved desserts - baklava and cheesecake. This recipe combines the rich, nutty flavors of baklava with the creamy, decadent texture of cheesecake, all in a convenient bar form.

Baklava Cheesecake Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package (16 ounces) phyllo dough, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the walnuts, pistachios, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Layer 10 sheets of phyllo dough in the prepared baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter before adding the next.
  4. Sprinkle a generous layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
  5. Repeat the layering process with 5 sheets of phyllo dough and the nut mixture until all the nut mixture is used, ending with a final layer of 10 sheets of phyllo dough on top.
  6. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut the baklava into 12 equal bars. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. While the baklava is baking, prepare the cheesecake layer. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, honey, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  8. Once the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Then, spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the top.
  9. Return the baklava to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheesecake layer is set.
  10. Allow the baklava cheesecake bars to cool completely in the baking dish before cutting and serving.
