Ingredients

  • 1 cup black glutinous rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 pandan leaf, tied in a knot
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup palm sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the black glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, and pandan leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the coconut milk, palm sugar, and salt to the pot. Continue to simmer for another 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the porridge thickens.
  4. Remove the pandan leaf and discard.
  5. Divide the porridge into serving bowls and serve warm.
