Balinese Spicy Chicken Satay (sate Plecing Ayam)
Balinese Spicy Chicken Satay, also known as Sate Plecing Ayam, is a traditional dish from the beautiful island of Bali, Indonesia. This dish is bursting with flavors from the aromatic spices and the heat of the chili, making it a favorite among those who enjoy spicy food.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into cubes
- 2 shallots, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 red chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- Salt to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the shallots, garlic, red chilies, turmeric powder, coriander powder, brown sugar, kecap manis, lime juice, and salt to make the marinade.
- Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and coat them well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
- Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the chicken skewers for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
- Serve the Balinese Spicy Chicken Satay hot with steamed rice and sambal plecing (spicy tomato sambal).
