Ingredients
- 500g fresh mushrooms, cleaned and halved
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste

- 4 shallots, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspoon shrimp paste
- 1 teaspoon palm sugar
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a blender, combine the tamarind paste, red chilies, shallots, garlic, shrimp paste, palm sugar, and salt. Blend until it forms a smooth paste.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the spice paste and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the mushrooms to the pan and stir to coat them with the spice paste. Cook for 8-10 minutes until the mushrooms are tender.
- Thread the mushrooms onto skewers and grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until they are slightly charred.
- Serve the Balinese Spicy Mushroom Satay hot with steamed rice and sambal for an extra kick.
