Balinese Spicy Pork Satay (sate Plecing Babi)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb pork loin, cut into thin strips
  • 1/4 cup kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 2 shallots, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together kecap manis, shallots, garlic, coriander, cumin, turmeric, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add the pork strips to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  3. Thread the marinated pork strips onto skewers.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook the pork satay for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. Serve the Balinese Spicy Pork Satay with sambal plecing sauce and steamed rice.
