Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- 3 shallots, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 red chilies, chopped
- 1 tsp shrimp paste
- 1 tsp palm sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 bamboo skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a food processor, blend the shallots, garlic, red chilies, shrimp paste, palm sugar, and salt to make a smooth spice paste.
- Marinate the shrimp with the spice paste, tamarind paste, and vegetable oil for 15 minutes.
- Thread the marinated shrimp onto the bamboo skewers.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the shrimp skewers for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are cooked through and slightly charred.
- Serve the Balinese Spicy Shrimp Satay hot with steamed rice and sambal matah.
