Balkanski Burek (balkan Burek)
Balkanski Burek, also known as Balkan Burek, is a traditional savory pastry dish popular in Balkan cuisine. It is made with flaky phyllo dough and a variety of fillings, such as cheese, meat, or spinach.
Ingredients
- 1 package of phyllo dough
- 1 cup of feta cheese
- 1 cup of ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup of chopped spinach
- 1/2 cup of ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix together the feta cheese, ricotta cheese, and eggs. Divide the mixture into two equal parts.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped spinach, ground beef, chopped onion, and salt and pepper.
- Brush a baking dish with olive oil. Lay one sheet of phyllo dough in the dish and brush it with olive oil. Repeat with 5 more sheets, brushing each with olive oil.
- Spread one part of the cheese mixture over the phyllo dough. Top with another layer of phyllo dough, brushed with olive oil.
- Spread the spinach and beef mixture over the phyllo dough. Top with another layer of phyllo dough, brushed with olive oil.
- Spread the remaining cheese mixture over the phyllo dough. Top with the remaining phyllo dough sheets, brushing each with olive oil.
- Cut the burek into squares or triangles, then bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
