Balochi Dahi Murgh (creamy Yogurt Chicken Curry)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the yogurt with cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Marinate the chicken pieces in this mixture for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the garlic and ginger, and cook for 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  5. Add the marinated chicken and cook on medium heat until the chicken is tender.
  6. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
