Balochi Gosht Korma (balochi Style Mutton Korma)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 large onions, finely sliced
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup ghee or oil
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes until the raw smell disappears.
  3. Add the mutton pieces and sauté until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour in enough water to cover the mutton and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pot, and simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
  6. Add the slit green chilies and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
