Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
  • 3 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes and drained
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot and fry the onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the beef cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  3. Stir in the ginger and garlic paste, tomatoes, green chilies, and spices. Cook for a few minutes.
  4. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pot. Cook until the oil separates.
  5. Add the soaked and drained rice to the pot and gently mix with the meat and spices.
  6. Pour in the water, cover the pot, and let the pulao simmer on low heat until the rice is cooked and the meat is tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
