Ingredients
- 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
- 3 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes and drained
- 1/2 cup oil
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1-inch cinnamon stick
- 4-5 cloves
- 4-5 green cardamom pods
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot and fry the onions until golden brown.
- Add the beef cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the ginger and garlic paste, tomatoes, green chilies, and spices. Cook for a few minutes.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pot. Cook until the oil separates.
- Add the soaked and drained rice to the pot and gently mix with the meat and spices.
- Pour in the water, cover the pot, and let the pulao simmer on low heat until the rice is cooked and the meat is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
