Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp cooking oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown.
- Add the mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the garlic, ginger, and spices, and cook for a few minutes until fragrant.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pot, stirring well to coat the mutton.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot, then pour in the water.
- Season with salt, cover the pot, and let the pulao simmer for 30-40 minutes until the mutton and rice are tender.
- Once done, fluff the pulao with a fork and serve hot.
