Balochi Gosht Pulao with Kishmish is a traditional dish from the Balochi cuisine that features tender beef cooked with aromatic spices and raisins, resulting in a flavorful and comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 500g beef, cut into cubes
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup kishmish (raisins)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 4 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup cooking oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, heat the cooking oil and add the cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Now add the beef cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Whisk the yogurt and garam masala together, then add it to the pot. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Pour in the water and bring it to a boil. Then add the soaked rice and kishmish (raisins).
- Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice and meat are fully cooked.
- Once done, fluff the pulao with a fork and serve hot.
