Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
  3. Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pan, stirring continuously to avoid curdling.
  5. Add water and bring the curry to a gentle simmer.
  6. Add the shrimp and cook for 5-7 minutes or until they are pink and cooked through.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
