Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, yogurt, and all the spices. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the water, cover the pan, and let the curry simmer for 30-40 minutes until the chicken is tender and the flavors are well blended.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
