Balochi Murgh Korma (balochi Style Chicken Korma)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup ghee or oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg, grated
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the chicken pieces, ginger paste, and garlic paste. Cook until the chicken changes color.
  3. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pot along with all the spices. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pot, and let the korma simmer on low heat for 45-50 minutes or until the chicken is tender.
  5. Garnish with green chilies and fresh coriander leaves before serving.
