Balochi Murgh Korma is a traditional chicken dish from the Balochi cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This recipe brings together a blend of spices and ingredients to create a delicious and comforting dish.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely sliced
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup ghee or oil
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg, grated
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat ghee or oil in a large pot and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the chicken pieces, ginger paste, and garlic paste. Cook until the chicken changes color.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pot along with all the spices. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in 2 cups of water, cover the pot, and let the korma simmer on low heat for 45-50 minutes or until the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with green chilies and fresh coriander leaves before serving.
