Baltijas jūras lasi zupa, or Baltic Sea Salmon Soup, is a traditional Latvian dish that showcases the flavors of the Baltic Sea. This creamy and hearty soup is perfect for a cozy dinner on a cold evening.
Ingredients
- 500g fresh salmon fillet, cut into chunks
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 liter fish or vegetable broth
- 200ml heavy cream
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh dill for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, sauté the onion, carrots, and celery until softened.
- Add the potatoes and fish or vegetable broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add the salmon chunks and bay leaves. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 more minutes.
- Remove the bay leaves and serve the soup hot, garnished with chopped fresh dill.
