Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 lb okra, trimmed and sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Season the beef with salt, pepper, coriander, cumin, cayenne pepper, and turmeric.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the seasoned beef and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until softened.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.
- Add the sliced okra to the pot and continue to simmer for an additional 20 minutes, or until the okra is tender.
- Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper, if needed.
- Serve the Bamia hot with rice or bread.
