Banana Cake (torta De Banana)
This Banana Cake, known as Torta de Banana in Montevideo, is a delicious and moist dessert that is perfect for any occasion. Made with ripe bananas, this cake is a wonderful way to use up any overripe fruit and satisfy your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
- Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
- Add the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
- Mix in the flour until just incorporated.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
