Ivorian-style grilled lamb skewers, also known as Bangui Bangui, are a popular street food in Ivory Coast. The marinade infuses the lamb with a delicious blend of flavors, making it a perfect dish for a barbecue or a special dinner.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (700g) lamb, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, paprika, cumin, coriander, vegetable oil, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
- Add the lamb cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated lamb cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired level of doneness.
- Serve the Bangui Bangui hot with a side of spicy peanut sauce and grilled plantains.
