Bao Zai Fan (clay Pot Rice)
Bao Zai Fan, also known as Clay Pot Rice, is a traditional dish from Guangxi Cuisine. This flavorful and comforting meal is cooked in a clay pot, resulting in a crispy layer of rice at the bottom, and topped with savory ingredients.
Ingredients
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 lb Chinese sausage, sliced
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 4 green onions, chopped
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Rinse the jasmine rice and drain. Place it in the clay pot and add water.
- Layer the Chinese sausage, shiitake mushrooms, and green onions on top of the rice.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar. Pour the sauce over the ingredients in the clay pot.
- Cover the clay pot and cook over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the bottom is crispy.
- Once done, mix the ingredients together and serve hot.
