Башкирское карри из баранины (Bashkir Lamb Kofta Curry) is a traditional dish from the Bashkir cuisine, known for its rich flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 500g ground lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the ground lamb, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, cilantro, and salt. Form the mixture into small kofta (meatballs) and set aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the kofta and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the tomato puree, coconut milk, and garam masala. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Return the kofta to the skillet and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the kofta are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
- Stir in the fresh lemon juice and adjust the seasoning with salt, if needed.
- Serve the Bashkir Lamb Kofta Curry hot, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
