Башкирские куриные шашлыки (Bashkir-Style Chicken Kebabs) are a delicious and flavorful dish from Bashkir cuisine. These kebabs are marinated in a blend of aromatic spices and then grilled to perfection, resulting in tender and juicy chicken with a smoky charred flavor.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (700g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (60ml) plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped onion, minced garlic, yogurt, vegetable oil, paprika, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to form a marinade.
- Add the chicken cubes to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Grill the chicken kebabs for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and have a nice charred exterior.
- Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving.
