Basilicatan Chocolate And Hazelnut Tart

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Add the butter and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add the beaten egg and pulse until the dough comes together.
  3. Press the dough into a 9-inch tart pan, covering the bottom and sides. Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and chill for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Bake the tart crust for 15-20 minutes, or until set. Let it cool completely.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts over the bottom of the tart crust.
  7. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Remove from the heat and add the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
