Bavarian Meatloaf Burger (leberkäse Burger)
This Bavarian Meatloaf Burger, also known as Leberkäse Burger, is a popular dish in Hamburg cuisine. It's a delicious combination of savory meatloaf, crispy onions, and tangy mustard, all sandwiched between a soft burger bun.
Ingredients
- 500g ground pork
- 250g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of cheese
- 1/2 cup crispy fried onions
- 4 tbsp mustard
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika until well combined.
- Form the meat mixture into 4 burger patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the burger patties for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
- Toast the burger buns in the skillet for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun, topping with a slice of cheese, crispy fried onions, and a dollop of mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun.
