Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tbsp sweet paprika
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup dark beer
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef cubes and brown them on all sides. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
- Add the chopped onions to the pot and cook until they are soft and translucent.
- Stir in the garlic, tomato paste, paprika, and caraway seeds, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Return the beef to the pot and pour in the beef broth and beer. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
- Serve the Bavarian beef goulash hot, with a side of mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
