Bebek Jamur (braised Duck With Mushrooms)

Ingredients

  • 1 whole duck, cut into pieces
  • 200g shiitake mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the duck pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a large pot over medium heat and sear the duck pieces until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté the garlic and onion until fragrant.
  4. Add the mushrooms and cook until they release their juices.
  5. Pour in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Stir well.
  6. Return the duck pieces to the pot and pour in the chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, or until the duck is tender.
  7. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  8. Serve the Bebek Jamur hot with steamed rice.
