Beef and Stilton Pie is a classic English dish that combines tender beef with rich and creamy Stilton cheese, all encased in a flaky pastry. This recipe takes the traditional pie to the next level with a revolutionary twist!
Ingredients
- 500g beef, diced
- 200g Stilton cheese, crumbled
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 2 tbsp flour
- 500ml beef stock
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 sheets of puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large pan, brown the beef over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
- Stir in the carrot and celery, then sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well.
- Pour in the beef stock and Worcestershire sauce, then bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in the Stilton cheese until melted.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Line a pie dish with one sheet of puff pastry, then pour in the beef and Stilton mixture.
- Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top, crimp the edges to seal, and brush with the beaten egg.
- Make a few slits in the pastry to allow steam to escape, then bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
