Beef Fritters, known as Siphuphe Semlombo in Eswatini, are a popular snack made with seasoned beef and a crispy batter. These fritters are perfect for a quick and tasty appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) beef, minced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup (120ml) water
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the minced beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and water to make a smooth batter.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Take spoonfuls of the beef mixture, dip them into the batter, and carefully place them in the hot oil.
- Fry the fritters until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the beef fritters hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
