Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced beef and cook until browned. Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir to coat.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Transfer the beef and sauce to a baking dish. Top with the caramelized onions and sprinkle the grated Gruyère cheese over the top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
