Beef Tacos (nyama Yemombe Tacos)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and sauté until softened.
  2. Add the beef slices to the pan and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in the cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Warm the tortillas in a separate pan or in the microwave.
  5. Assemble the tacos by placing a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each tortilla, then topping with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and cilantro.
  6. Serve the beef tacos immediately and enjoy!
