Beef Tacos (nyama Yemombe Tacos)
Beef Tacos, known as Nyama Yemombe Tacos in Zimbabwe, are a delicious and popular dish that combines flavorful beef with fresh vegetables and spices, all wrapped in a warm tortilla. This recipe is perfect for a quick and satisfying meal that the whole family will love.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) beef, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 small tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and sauté until softened.
- Add the beef slices to the pan and cook until browned.
- Stir in the cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Warm the tortillas in a separate pan or in the microwave.
- Assemble the tacos by placing a spoonful of the beef mixture onto each tortilla, then topping with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and cilantro.
- Serve the beef tacos immediately and enjoy!
