Ingredients
- 4 chicken drumsticks
- 3 slices of ginger
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken drumsticks and sear until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same wok, add ginger, garlic, green onions, star anise, and cinnamon stick. Stir-fry until fragrant.
- Return the chicken drumsticks to the wok. Add soy sauce, dark soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 45-50 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
- Season with salt to taste. Serve the braised chicken drumsticks hot with steamed rice.
