Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small piece of ginger, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed, then sauté the garlic, ginger, and green onions until fragrant.
- Pour in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Stir to combine.
- Add the fried tofu back into the pan, then pour in the vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors of the sauce.
- Stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with additional green onions, if desired.
