This 辣子牛肉炒 (Beijing Style Spicy Beef Stir-Fry) is a classic dish from Beijing cuisine, known for its bold flavors and spicy kick. It's a quick and easy stir-fry that's perfect for a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, julienned
- 4-5 dried red chilies
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp Sichuan peppercorns
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.
- Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
- In the same wok, add a little more oil if needed and stir-fry the garlic, ginger, and dried chilies until fragrant.
- Return the beef to the wok and add the soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, and Sichuan peppercorns. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the green onions and stir-fry for an additional minute.
- Transfer to a serving dish and serve hot with steamed rice.
