Ingredients

  • 4 cups stale bread, torn into pieces
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the torn bread and milk. Let it soak for 10 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the soaked bread and stir to combine. Add the raisins if using.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the pudding is set.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
