Berry Blast (Ягодный кисель)
Ягодный кисель (Berry Blast) is a traditional Belarusian dessert that is perfect for summer. This refreshing and fruity kisiel is made with a variety of berries and is enjoyed by people of all ages.
Ingredients
- 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the mixed berries and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 5 minutes.
- Strain the berries to remove the pulp and seeds, leaving only the juice.
- Return the berry juice to the saucepan and add sugar. Bring to a boil.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of cold water until dissolved.
- Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the boiling berry juice, stirring constantly until the kisiel thickens.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Pour the kisiel into serving bowls and refrigerate until set.
