Beshbarmak (uyghur Stuffed Peppers)
Beshbarmak is a traditional Uyghur dish that consists of stuffed peppers filled with a flavorful mixture of meat and spices. This dish is popular in Xinjiang, China, and is known for its rich and aromatic flavors.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion, garlic, cooked rice, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the meat mixture and place them in a baking dish.
- Drizzle the stuffed peppers with vegetable oil and cover the dish with foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the peppers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the stuffed peppers hot and enjoy!
