Bharli Mirchi (भरली मिरची)
Bharli Mirchi is a popular Maharashtrian dish made with green chilies stuffed with a spicy and tangy filling. It is a delicious and flavorful dish that can be served as a side or a snack.
Ingredients
- 8-10 large green chilies
- 1 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp amchur (dry mango powder)
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida (hing)
- 2-3 curry leaves
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
Instructions
- Wash and slit the green chilies lengthwise. Remove the seeds and keep aside.
- In a bowl, mix besan, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, amchur, garam masala, and salt.
- Stuff the green chilies with the besan mixture and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Saute for a minute.
- Add the stuffed green chilies and cook on low heat, covered, until the chilies are tender and the besan is cooked.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
