Bharwan Paratha (stuffed Parathas)
Bharwan Paratha, also known as Stuffed Parathas, is a popular dish in Saraiki Cuisine. These delicious parathas are stuffed with a flavorful filling and are perfect for a hearty breakfast or a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- Water, as needed
- 1 cup mixed vegetable filling (potatoes, peas, carrots, etc.)
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, for cooking
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and water to make a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the mixed vegetable filling with cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt to make the stuffing.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and roll each ball into a small circle.
- Place a portion of the vegetable stuffing in the center of the circle and seal the edges to enclose the filling.
- Roll out the stuffed dough ball into a paratha, using some flour to prevent sticking.
- Heat a griddle or skillet over medium heat and cook the paratha with oil until golden brown on both sides.
- Repeat the process with the remaining dough and filling to make more parathas.
- Serve hot with yogurt, pickles, or chutney.
