Bhojpuri Style Goat Curry (bihari Mutton Curry)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg goat meat, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 4-5 green chilies, slit
  • 1/4 cup mustard oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the goat meat pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, yogurt, and all the dry spices. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Pour in enough water to cover the meat, cover the pan, and simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the meat is tender.
  6. Add the green chilies and garam masala, and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or Indian breads.
