Bhojpuri Style Goat Curry (bihari Mutton Curry)
Bhojpuri Style Goat Curry, also known as Bihari Mutton Curry, is a traditional dish from the Bhojpuri cuisine of Bihar, India. This rich and flavorful curry is made with tender pieces of goat meat cooked in a spicy and aromatic gravy, perfect for serving with steamed rice or Indian breads.
Ingredients
- 1 kg goat meat, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup mustard oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a heavy-bottomed pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
- Now, add the goat meat pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the tomato puree, yogurt, and all the dry spices. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in enough water to cover the meat, cover the pan, and simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the meat is tender.
- Add the green chilies and garam masala, and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or Indian breads.
