Bhut Jolokia Chicken Curry
Bhut Jolokia Chicken Curry is a traditional Naga Cuisine dish that features the infamous Bhut Jolokia pepper, also known as the ghost pepper. This fiery curry is not for the faint of heart, but for those who love a good kick of heat in their meal.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 Bhut Jolokia peppers, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and Bhut Jolokia peppers. Sauté until the onions are golden brown.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook for 10 minutes.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the curry. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or naan.
