Ingredients

  • 1 lb dried beef, sliced
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Soak the dried beef in water for 1 hour, then drain and rinse.
  2. Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the dried beef. Cook until browned.
  3. Add the onions, garlic, and ginger. Cook until the onions are soft.
  4. Stir in the tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours, or until the beef is tender.
  6. Serve hot with rice or traditional Bhutanese red rice.
