Bihari Fish Curry (बिहारी मछली करी)
Bihari Fish Curry is a traditional dish from the Bihari cuisine, known for its rich and flavorful taste. This curry is made with fresh fish and a blend of aromatic spices, creating a mouthwatering dish that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 500g fish, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Now, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Gently place the fish pieces into the masala and coat them well. Add water as needed to adjust the consistency of the curry.
- Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes on low heat until the fish is cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
