Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 4-5 tbsp mustard oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat mustard oil in a pan and add chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the chicken pieces and cook until they are slightly browned.
  4. Stir in the tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  5. Whisk the yogurt and add it to the chicken. Cook for another 10 minutes.
  6. Add garam masala and green chilies. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
