Bihari-style Matar Paneer (बिहारी-स्टाइल मटर पनीर)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of paneer, cubed
  • 1 cup of green peas
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes.
  3. Now, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Next, add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add the green peas and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Then, add the paneer cubes and garam masala. Mix gently and cook for another 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
