Bing Hu Jiao Zi (crystal Shrimp Dumplings)
Bing Hu Jiao Zi, also known as Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, is a popular dish in Huaiyang Cuisine. These translucent dumplings are filled with succulent shrimp and bursting with flavor. They are not only delicious but also a feast for the eyes, making them a perfect addition to any dim sum spread.
Ingredients
- 200g shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 100g water chestnuts, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon spring onions, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 20 round dumpling wrappers
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the shrimp, water chestnuts, ginger, spring onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper.
- Place a small spoonful of the shrimp mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper.
- Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, then pleat and seal the dumplings.
- Steam the dumplings for 8-10 minutes until the wrappers turn translucent and the filling is cooked through.
