Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs (680g) flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup (120ml) beef broth
Instructions
- Season the steak with cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
- Heat the remaining olive oil in the same skillet. Add the onions and cook until they are soft and golden brown, about 10 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth and return the steak to the skillet. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the bistec encebollado hot, accompanied by rice and beans, if desired.
