Bistek Tagalog Kapampangan Style

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup calamansi juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine calamansi juice, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Marinate the beef slices in this mixture for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion rings until caramelized. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sear the marinated beef slices until browned. Pour in the remaining marinade and beef broth. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the beef is tender.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add the caramelized onions back into the pan and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
