Black Forest Trifle (Schwarzwälder Kirsch Trifle)

Ingredients

  • 1 chocolate sponge cake, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • 1/4 cup Kirsch (cherry brandy)
  • Chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. In the bottom of a trifle dish, layer half of the chocolate cake cubes.
  2. Drizzle half of the Kirsch over the cake.
  3. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling on top of the cake.
  4. Add a layer of half of the whipped cream.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, Kirsch, cherry filling, and whipped cream.
  6. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
